About the Artist — Dana “DJ” Joaquin
Joaquin Hatbands was born from the creative vision of artist and designer Dana “DJ” Joaquin — a California native whose journey began in the world of music and performance.
As a professional dancer, DJ had the privilege of working alongside artists such as Stevie Nicks, Linda Perry, P!nk, Justin Timberlake, and Beyoncé — visionaries who showed her what fearless creativity truly looks like. Witnessing that kind of artistic freedom became a defining moment, planting the seeds for her own expression in design.
Raised by the ocean in Carpinteria, DJ draws daily inspiration from God, the coast, and the natural beauty of her surroundings. Each hatband she designs is an extension of her prayerful process — crafted with intention, reverence, and boldness.
Her work carries the same spirit she experienced on stage: raw artistry, emotion, and freedom — now translated through bead and thread.
